Tactical Retailer Magazine has included the PD10 in its line up of New 9’s that most gun shops don’t have in stock yet. Specifically, the article is focused on “Micro 9mms” that are new to the market or planned to be released soon. Looking at the pistols listed, it appears that the PD10 would be the thinnest of the firearms. Thin-ness is a key design feature of the Avidity Arms handgun. Firearms from Savage, Staccato and a not-yet-released model from Lionheart Industries are also included.
The Tactical Retailer piece calls out the PD10’s unique CLAW emergency manipulation features, which are just part of its “Designed for Defense” highlight list. While any small gun that enters the market is going to be consider an armed for concealed carry, many micro-9’s suffer from over-compromising shootability for size. The balance of many attributes is the key to any firearms appropriateness for defensive use. Avidity Arms believes that their first pistol is the best balance of carryability, concealability, weright, capacity & shootability for those who both carry and practice with their defensive handgun.
“Far too often, students in our defensive shooting classes show up wearing a ‘micro-9’, but want to switch to a full size gun to shoot in the class,” says PD10 Designer Rob Pincus, “My expectation is that those who carry a PD10 will actually train with their carry gun because it’s the right combination of easy enough to carry and easy enough to shoot.”
