- Polite Society Podcast talks PD10
The Polite Society Podcast team invited Rob Pincus to join them on Episode 649 to talk about finally bringing the Avidity Arms PD10 Pistol to market. Co-Host John Richardson broke the news that the PD10 would be offered for sale at the 2023 SHOT Show. The news was shared in his Only Guns & Money Blog last month.
Paul Lathrop has been following the development of the pistol for many years and knows how important the project is to Pincus. At the same time, Pincus explained that it hasn’t been the top priority, much less the only project, he’s been working on since 2013. The last year has been the real push to get it done, after several key pieces fell, or were forced, into place. The Polite Society Podcast is one of the leading resources for accurate and informative information about the gun community and gun rights on the internet!
- The Avidity Arms PD10: built by instructors, for shooters!
The Avidity Arms PD10 is the first defensive handgun designed from the ground up by a defensive shooting instructor, Rob Pincus. After more than two decades’ experience, the Personal Defense Network™ founder developed the concept of a purpose-built carry pistol that addresses the needs of people who actually carry concealed guns for the defense of themselves or others.
What makes a perfect defensive handgun? “It boils down to carryability, shootability, and reliability,” says Pincus. “Most pistols compromise in a way that sacrifices at least one of those three far too much, but not the PD10. I believe that we have balanced out the compromises in the best way possible for the largest number of people.”
Carryability, of course, means that the gun must not be too large or too heavy to comfortably conceal. The Avidity Arms PD10 accomplishes this with a surprisingly thin grip, holding a metal single-stack magazine that still boasts a 10+1 capacity for ample firepower.
- PD10 included as a Top Gun of SHOT 2023!
All About Survival included the PD10 as a Top Gun of SHOT Show 2023!
In addition to the first pistol from Avidity Arms, the video overview includes pistols from some of the top manufacturers in the world. The PD10 is acknowledged for its purpose built slim design. Note that while the information provided in the video is accurate, some of the images are of early prototypes and the pricing reference is incorrect. Updated info is available at the PD10 Web Page or through the Gallery of Guns.
- Ghost Tactical PD10 Review on Youtube!
Ghost Tactical posted a PD10 range review just before SHOT Show 2023. Ghost has followed the development of the pistol for years. Ghost is well known for his thoughtful reviews of a wide variety of firearms, with a focus on defensive pistols and rifles. His YouTube video was the first to be done with a production specification PD10 Avidity Arms Handgun after the announcement that the pistol would be available for dealer orders in January 2023 and listed on the Gallery of Guns.
- PD10 Pistol in Outdoor Life!
First announced at SHOT in 2016, the PD10 hadn’t quite got its legs under it until now. Designed by Rob Pincus in conjunction with Avidity Arms, the PD10 is designed to be an ideal carry pistol; and is now available as a production gun. The PD10 is a polymer-framed pistol that’s similar in size to a Glock G19, but slimmer. The PD10’s frame is designed for shooter-friendly ergonomics and a secure grip. It has texturing on the front and back of the grip and a short two-slot accessory rail.
The PD10 uses 10-round 9mm 1911 single-stack magazines. The slide features rear cocking serrations and tapered beveling at the front of the slide to reduce hang-ups on clothing or holsters. It features an Ameriglow Luma Glow front sight and I.C.E. Claw rear sight that the gun can be racked against a barrier. It’s an affordable, well-thought pistol that should be one of the hit new handguns for concealed carry.

- PD10 YouTube Review from Bearco Training
A PD10 YouTube Review has been posted by Barret Kendrick of Bearco Training. Barret is in a unique position to evaluate the pistol because he has had close access to various prototypes and the development process over the past decade. He has shot multiple evolutions of the pistol, starting with some of the very first 3D Printed (metal) Models.
- PD10 Press Release in TTAG
In June of 2022, Travis Pike wrote an article about what he perceived as the death of the PD10. Well, he’s still following the story and his latest piece on the topic is about the PD10’s Press Release covering its entry to the consumer market (resurrection?) this month at the 2023 SHOT Show.
Check it out at TTAG! - PD10 Sale Date Announced!
On January 2nd, 2023, the long awaited PD10 Sale Date was announced in the OnlyGunsandMoney.com Blog!
The pistol will be available in both standard and optic cut slide versions, the latter of which will be exclusively offered by Davidson’s, one of the industry’s most respected distributors. Retailers attending the 2023 SHOT Show in Las Vegas, NV (Jan 16-20) will be able to order the pistol. - May 2014, The first glimpse of the PD10 Pistol
With his tongue firmly in cheek, and probably being bitten at the same time, Rob Pincus actually publicly set the stage for the PD10’s Specifications while the project was still in “Top Secret” status. This article was published in May 2014. Many months before anyone outside of a very small circle had any idea that he was working on a defensive pistol design. By this time, however, the initial specifications were already pretty well established and the literal napkin sketch was done. “Avidity Arms” wasn’t even a name yet, but Rob wanted to get the design ideas into the world, knowing that it was only a matter of time before similar designs would hit the market… probably from a major company before his start up.

- Early PD10 Model on the range in 2016
Rob Pincus gave the first “public” chance to shoot the Avidity Arms PD10 to the attendees at the I.C.E. Training Company Combat Focus Shooting Instructor Conference in St. Augustine in 2016. The guns that were shot were very early models which were used to evolve & improve the design. Of course, shooter feedback was important to that process.
- PD10 in PEW PEW TACTICAL, June 2022
The PD10 was in Pew Pew Tactical in 2022, when Travis Pike did a little speculating on “what happened” to the pistol that still hadn’t made it to the market.
- SHOT Show 2017 PD10 Feature Overview
SHOT SHOW 2017: Rob Pincus goes over the features and original design intention of the PD10 Pistol.
Very few things have changed since the 2017 Version. The design intent for the PD10 has never been deviated from. It is a purpose built defensive carry pistol that should meet the needs of the vast majority of those who actually carry pistols for personal defense.
