Did the Glock 48 “kill” the PD10 when it was released a few years ago?
This is something that many people have asked… and the simple answer is “No”, but there’s some important to things to understand which explain why that’s the bottom line answer. This Ammoland Article from 2019 lays it all out.
It is good news to read about the PD10 coming to reality.
Concentrating on markets with 10 round mag limits and women with smaller hands would make sense.
Lots of changes since 2014, though.
I have two double stack 9mm pistols for personal defense.
I do not conceal carry yet (holsters require new clothing, not for me).
I want a blue jeans, front pocket carry pistol in 30 Super Carry, which no one offers.
I suggest the following.
Single stack 8 round but no more than 9 round capacity. (Ruger EC9s standard 7 round mag is too short to grip and 9 round mag is too long for pocket carry. slide release and manual safety make the EC9s a failure for pocket carry.)
Striker fired with no manual safety and recessed slide release.
Smaller diameter 30 SC cartridge allows for max grip width of .875″ or much less and max slide width of .75″ … think Ruger ECD9s footprint melded with Beretta Nano.
Barrel length 3.25″
Slick sides, fully dehorned, sights machined into the slide.
True front pocket carry is simply not offered.
30 SC is a real alternative to 9mm and puts 380acp on the shelf where it belongs.
This same front pocket carry pistol could be offered with 22 lr conversion. Swap out barrel and magazine for practice or those with weak hand strength.
