While the article is certainly a bit tongue-in-cheek, the fact is that the Florida Marked PD10 Pistols will eventually be firearms world collectibles. The history of the PD10 and Avidity Arms is pretty well documented, including our move to North Carolina in 2022, the reality of just how few PD10 Pistols there are with the “Saint Augustin, FL” markings there are is just setting in.
Due to some nuances of Firearms Manufacturing Regulations, when Avidity moved from Florida to North Carolina, the company needed to get a new Manufacturing License. We also needed to wait until we had that license before we could begin the process of changing the mold and serial number plates for the PD10s that would be sold under the new license. Of course, all of those PD10s are marked “Fletcher, NC”… as will all Avidity Arms firearms for the foreseeable future. That makes the pistols with Florida markings collectibles. From The Article:
You have a chance to get in on the ground floor and grab up a collectible pistol before they fetch collectible prices! The interesting part of the move is that before Avidity Arms moved from Florida to North Carolina, they ordered a batch of pistol frames. The ATF requires manufacturers to mark pistol frames with the serial number, manufacture, and location. Those frames were stamped “Florida,” but after that original batch, all current PD10s are marked with the North Carolina origin. While it may seem trivial, collectors will jump at the opportunity to snatch up a pistol that is technically pre-production. To further differentiate the pistols, Rob has also retired the original serial number prefix and range. The original “Florida” guns were all grey frames with the original serial number PD10xxxx range. As of today, there are few early Florida Marked PD10s up for sale at GunsAmerica without any premium being asked. In fact, they are slightly under MSRP!
