- A-SAR Overview from NRAAM 2024
CloverTac’s A-SAR Overview was recorded at the 2024 NRA Convention in Texas. Clover spent some time with one of our engineers to at NRAAM 2024 discussing the features and build of Avidity’s first Rifle Product. The A-SAR (Avidity Semi-Automatic Rifle) is actually a collaboration between Avidity Arms and NEMO, who are already well established manufacturers of high quality AR Type Rifles. The A-SAR billet lower was designed by Rob Pincus to give every advantage to those interested in a defensive carbine. The upper is a 16″ NEMO Battle-Light, with .223 Wylde chamber and all the features that NEMO’s own rifle ships with, including their Nickel Boron Coated BCG.
The A-SAR’s most unique feature is the lower’s Internally Funneled IF Mag Well™. This unique magazine well has internal funneling to guide the ridge at the back of all AR type magazines into the correct alignment for seating. Clover learned about this feature and its primary advantage during the A-SAR Overview. Rob originally made this modification to some of his own AR’s many years ago and was surprised to learn that no company offered such an obviously beneficial feature. In addition to the internal funneling, the IF Mag Well™ features a generous central relief cut that creates a front lip. That lip makes finding the magazine well easier without visual reference. The cut also means that those with shorter or weaker fingers will have an easier time clearing a complex malfunction (Double Feed, etc…), if they should ever need to. These features are designed into the lower without any increase in external dimensions over a standard AR, keeping the rifle slim and resulting in an overall lighter lower.
Avidity Arms has also but a limited number of special configuration .22LR and .22WMR A-SARs for Cape Gun Works (VideoHERE!) and is working with both U.S. Rifle and WyoTac to produce additional collaborations in 7.62×39 and 6mm ARC (respectively).

The Shooter’s Log Reviews a wide variety of firearms and they’ve taken a close look at the PD10 Pistol. Dave Dolbee was first introduced to the PD10 at Lucid Optic’s Ballistic Summit event in New Mexico. In addition to the normal overview of features, the author shares his thoughts and insight on them. For example, his comments on the magazine release:
The design of the magazine release is unlike any I can recall. The release is a normal button-style release, but the grip frame (behind the button) is beveled to prevent the shooter from accidentally dropping a mag. It also guides the thumb to the release button.
-D. Dolbee, 6/24Shooter’s Log Reviews wouldn’t be complete without live fire tests, of course. Dolbee took the pistol to the range for his review article and he also brought a new shooter to observe how they handled the PD10. He found something we see quite often as well: A poor shooting platform behind the gun can cause problems.
I test guns regularly, so I figured the best test of a gun is to take along new shooter and let them have a crack at it. As with any semi-auto, if you don’t grip the gun properly, you can cause a failure. The PD10 is no different. However, grip issues were quickly rectified and no other failures to feed, fire, or eject were noted.
-D. Dolbee, 6/24Overall, we think Dolbee has a great grasp on what the PD10 Pistol is all about and appreciate him sharing his thoughts with others. we agree that the PD10 is “Built for Concealed Carry, Ready for Anything!“

Parallel Defense shoots the PD10 at their local range in this short YouTube Video. After first checking the Avidity Arms pistol out at SHOT Show 2024, Smiley has gotten his hands on a sample and is putting it through its paces.
A Full Review of the PD10 by Parallel Defense is expected to be shared in the future!
In the meantime, there are plenty of other PD10 Reviews to check out. - Rob Pincus talks with Parallel Defense talks with about the PD10.
Rob Pincus spent some time at the Gideon Optics booth during SHOT Show 2024 and Parallel Defense stopped by to talk about the PD10.
One of the highlights of SHOT Show is interacting with the media representatives and content creators that visit. These interactions give manufacturers an opportunity to educator more people about their products. Rob Pincus is never afraid to get in front of a camera and always willing to explain the features of the PD10 Pistol. Smiley seemed to understand the concepts at work very well. In regard to the trend towards smaller and smaller carry guns, he had this to say,
“…they start getting harder to shoot… I want a better gun.”
Smiley, Parallel Defense YouTube, Feb 2024Rob believes that the very thin PD10 is a “better gun”, allowing for a full grip while still being easy to carry & conceal. This combination makes the pistol easier to shoot that micro-compacts for just about anyone.
- One of the Best Handguns at SHOT Show 2024!
We were both delighted and surprised to see the PD10 Pistol at the top of the page in Athlon Outdoor’s “Best Full-Size Handguns of SHOT Show 2024” article this week. Even if we do consider the our Flagship Pistol to be a “very thin mid-sized gun that you can get a full grip on”!
The PD10 is in some great “Best Handguns” company, and it was a great SHOT Show for Avidity Arms. There are a lot of people who seem to share the author’s thoughts on our new caliber offering.“Finally, more guns for .30 Super Carry!”

Their chat started with a walk down memory lane, including some thoughts about some of the legends of the training industry they both got to work with. Eventually, they got to the big news at SHOT Show 2024 for Avidity Arms: The PD10 Pistol being offered in 30 SuperCarry.
- PD10 Pistol Review in Shooting News Weekly
A new PD10 Pistol Review has been written by John Petrolino. Shooting News Weekly published the article, which shares John’s experiences on the range, this morning!
Of course, the article contains John’s thoughts on the features and shooting performance of the PD10. John also shares the experiences of others who joined him during a couple of shooting sessions in 2023. It’s been a year since Avidity Arms started shipping the PD10 9mm Personal Defense Handgun. John has had one for the better part of that year and was really able to think about how the gun is designed and performs before writing his PD10 pistol review.“My initial impressions of the PD10 are very positive. I think the team at Avidity did a great job putting together a pistol that’ll appeal to a wide variety of people as an everyday carry personal defense gun.”
John Petrolino, 1/19/24 - 30 Super Carry Talk on Rapid Fire Radio
30 Super Carry was the topic of conversation on Rapid Fire Radio recently, with Chris Laack from Federal Ammunition and Rob Pincus from Avidity Arms. The two companies have just announced the result of some collaborative work. Avidity Arms is now offering the PD10 Pistol in 30 Super Carry!
This was the first media interview with representatives from both companies discussing the project. The 30 Super Carry was designed specifically for personal defense from the ground up. The same is true of the PD10 Pistol. Avidity’s offering is the first midsized striker fired pistol chambered in this new round, and only the fourth handgun on the market.
Chris Laack is the Product Manager for Handgun Ammunition at Federal/CCI/Speer. He has been following the PD10’s path to the market and has over 2000 rounds through his personal 9mm version. He’s had one chambered in 30SC for a couple of months now as well.“I love the fact that what we were trying to accomplish with ammo aligns so well with what Rob and Avidity were trying to do with the gun.”
-Chris Laack, Federal AmmunitionRob Pincus spent a lot of time researching the ammunition’s performance and the feasibility of adding the option of 30SC to the PD10 Pistol before committing to the project.
“I failed to give the 30 Super Carry enough attention when it was first released. Honestly, it was complacency. Thankfully, I that was called out by a buddy of mine. Last summer, I got to understand the round and perform gel tests. I was also able to work through what would be involved in chambering the PD10 for 30SC with the engineering team at Avidity. Ultimately, it was really obvious that the gun and the ammo were a great pairing and it was definitely worth doing.”
-Rob Pincus, Avidity Arms - 30SC PD10 chat on Armed Citizen Podcast
30SC PD10 was the topic of conversation yesterday during this live episode of the Armed Citizen Podcast. Rob Pincus joined Ghost Tactical to explain how & why the PD10 Pistol came to be chambered in Federal’s 30 Super Carry caliber.
Ghost actually posted the very first Range Review of the production PD10 Pistol about a year ago and is very familiar with the “designed for defense” handgun.
- 30SC PD10: ConcealedCarry.com Comments
The first media coverage of our announcement of the 30SC PD10 is live at ConcealedCarry.com!
Not surprisingly, a website focused on concealed carry with a staff that understands the PD10 totally understands why the PD10 and 30 Super Carry fit well together. They also understand why it makes sense for Avidity Arms and Federal Premium to be working together.Think of it this way–an ammunition company approaches a firearms company about a new cartridge project, after all they need guns to be on the market chambered in this new offering or there’s zero market for them to sell the ammunition. At the same time, the firearm manufacturer is a bit leery about producing a handgun chambered in this new cartridge unless there’s ammunition available for customers to buy.
Riley T. Bowman, 1/11/24ConcealedCarry.com has followed the Avidity Arms Story for many years, we appreciate them weighing in on the 30SC PD10!
- Rob Pincus explains the PD10 in 30 Super Carry
Rob Pincus, President of Avidity Arms, posted this video to explain the decision to chamber his PD10 in 30 Super Carry. The PD10 Pistol was originally released in 9mm only. One of the basic design elements of the PD10 was that it was designed “exclusively” for the 9mm cartridge, so why the addition of a 30SC option? Well, Rob feels that’s just how good the new personal defense focused option from Federal Ammunition is. Chambering the PD10 in 30 Super Carry changes very little about the super slim mid sized pistol, but it does add capacity without sacrificing performance. In fact, Pincus’ own testing of 30SC hollow point rounds in gel showed that they can outperform comparable 9mm rounds!
PD10s in 30 Super Carry are expected to begin shipping to retailers in February. Avidity Arms will also make Conversion Kits available for those who already own 9mm PD10s!
30 Super Carry Ammunition is widely available from a variety of trusted brands in full metal jacket and hollow point designs. The bullets are generally lighter than 9mm options and move faster, delivering similar energy to the target. The smaller diameter bullets will often penetrate deeper than their 9mm counterparts in tests.
